Today we got a call from a customer whose conifer had blown over in the storms in Thornton. When we arrived the whole tree including the root plate had come over crushing a children's play area. We removed the brash and stacked it across the garden ready to be chipped. Because of the weight in the root plate, as we removed more of the stem the tree wanted to sit back up. This can be dangerous, as you remove the last of the weigh holding the tree down it can shoot up hitting you if your'e not careful. The play area was a goner. All that was left was to tidy up. And leave. Luckily for this customer the tree came down in the night. Had this tree come over during the day things could have ended a lot worse. Especially with it coming over onto a children's play area. You should always have your trees checked by a qualified Arborist.
